Thanks to our innovative NFC SIM card, Rabobank customers can now make contactless payments using their phone.

Contactless payment is the latest hype in the Netherlands. This is not surprising when you consider that more than 80% of the Dutch are online with their smartphone almost 24/7 and that more than one-third of payment terminals in the Netherlands is equipped with NFC technology, a number that continues to grow.

NFC stands for Near Field Communication. This is technology that enables data to be transmitted without contact and in a safe manner. NFC is being used in more and more ways, from debit cards to public transport cards. The new NFC SIM card from KPN is a special SIM card that supports NFC technology. Customers do not need to use extra data or battery consumption and contactless payment is both easier and more accessible.

NFC support
KPN is proud to make the NFC SIM card available to everyone in the Netherlands. That is why we have included the NFC SIM card with all new mobile subscriptions since December 2015. Thanks to this SIM card, Rabobank customers with a KPN subscription have been able to pay in a safe, fast and simple way with their phones since this spring. They can download the Rabo Wallet from the Google Play Store and then save a digital debit card on the KPN NFC SIM card, literally creating a wallet in their phone.
