In 2017, KPN and the Royal Netherlands Army are intensifying their collaboration in order to give further substance to military intelligence and innovation themes with the help of ICT. On Wednesday 18 January, Frank van der Post (CCO of KPN) and Deputy Commander of the Royal Netherlands Army, Major General Martin Wijnen, signed an agreement at KPN’s IoT Academy in Rotterdam confirming their commitments.

“We would very much like to help our customers develop and apply innovative ICT solutions in order to improve their work and carry it out with greater efficiency,” says Frank van der Post, Chief Commercial Officer at KPN. “Our collaboration with the Ministry of Defence has already resulted in a highly promising regional safety concept based on sensors and Internet of Things technology.”

The Army wants to use innovative applications and ICT in an efficient and effective manner based on the conviction that ICT can enhance the operational effectiveness of the military. Technology is a ‘force multiplier’ that plays an increasingly larger role in military operations.
